How long have you been in business?
Thorn Books was established in 1987.
What is your primary product or service?
Our name comes both from the Thorn of Glastonbury with its Arthurian connotations, and the Old English alphabet letter, the thorn: Þ. We were admitted to the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America in 1991. Our focus is on fine books in all fields, but with a special attention to material related to King Arthur and Early Britain (including England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales).
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The owners have backgrounds and advanced degrees in areas that include English Literature as well as several classical and modern languages plus bookbinding and restoration. In addition both owners successfully completed all courses in the Rare Book School taught at the University of Denver uder the auspices of Bookman's Weekly. These activities provide skills necessary for the proper identification and description of rare books.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Thorn Books is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers of America, The International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (La Ligue Internatioale de la Librairie Ancienne), The Independent Online Booksellers Association and the Guild of Book Workers. Thorn Books offers experienced appraisal service for IRS qualified, donation, insurance, estate, preparation for sale and other purposes. We appraise single books, collections and libraries. We are open by appointment only.

Thorn Books is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm by appointment.
